While working in her studied field as a graphic designer, Liz Wilson was quietly keeping up with her real passion, designing and making clothes in her spare time. After winning two fashion design competitions in a row, she decided it was time to follow her dreams and started Eugénie. Now underway with her sixth collection, the brand isn’t a slave to the fast pace of the industry. The runs are kept small and made locally in Auckland, and the collections are released as Liz sees fit rather than fitting in with the status quo. Liz tries to keep a sense of honesty and reality at the heart of Eugénie, she strives to make statement pieces that will be treasured and worn over and over again. Her flagship store in Ponsonby is a creative hub in itself, also housing independent bookstore Victory Books and a shared office space in the back.
